Confirmation Requirements

The Diocese of Baker has the following essential components for the preparation for Confirmation:

  • Complete a Petition to be confirmed.
  • A review of the Rite of Confirmation
  • A review of the basic doctrines of the Faith through the study of the 65 questions (on file at the Parish Office)
  • A study of the mission of the Holy Spirit, the 3rd person of the Holy Trinity and the 7 gifts of the Holy Spirit
  • A study of the Corporal & Spiritual Works of Mercy
  • A study of prayer, how to pray, especially at the Mass, the Rosary, and the way of the Cross
  • A study of the obligation to do penance, especially abstaining from meat on Fridays and fasting on prescribed days of Lent
  • A study of the life of the Saints to inspire those to be confirmed, choose a Saints name and be knowledgeable of their works
  • Must have a Sponsor ~ Be  suitable for the role, baptized, confirmed, receive Holy Communion, a practicing Catholic, at least 16 years old and not under any canonical penalty.
  • Parents may not serve as sponsors!
  • Must meet with the Youth Minister or Priest prior to the Liturgy and review the requirements.
  • Complete the Gift of the Spirit journal and turn-in to the Middle School Youth Minister
