The parish family of St. Francis of Assisi is happy that you have chosen to have your child baptized in our parish. To help you with this process, we have listed the steps you need to take before you bring the baptism paperwork back to the office to choose a date for the baptism.
Parents and godparents are required to attend a pre-baptism class if they have not done so within the past two years. Check the dates on which we offer the classes and call the office at 541-382-3631 or email to register to attend. Godparents who do not live in the Bend area may attend the class at St. Francis or at their own parish. If they attend a baptism class at another parish, they will need to ask the parish for a letter or certificate stating when and where the class was taken.
? You will need one or two godparents (sponsors) for the child to be baptized. If you choose two, one must be male and the other female. A sponsor must be:
Ask the godparents to fill out the top part of the Baptism Sponsor Form (one Form for each godparent) and take them to the churches they now attend. The bottom part of the Baptism Sponsor Form is to be completed by the parish of the godparent and have the seal of that parish attached.
After parents and godparents have attended the pre-baptism class and the Sponsor Form has the seal of the church. Please FAX or MAIL or BRING the Baptism Application and Sponsor Forms to the office to schedule the baptism. ( do not email please)
