We need new members to help foster vocations
to the priesthood for the Diocese of Baker. What is “Serra?” We get our
name from Blessed Junipero Serra, the 18-century Spanish Franciscan friar
credited with bringing the Catholic Faith to North America. It is now an
international organization and our chapter was formed at the request of
Bishop Vasa five years ago. Our mission is to foster and appreciate
vocations to the priesthood and vowed religious life and to further our
members’ common faith. We can do all this through presenting Life
Awareness weekend retreats, school and religion class Vocation
Presentations, Vocation Appreciation activities such as the Annual
Priests’ Appreciation Dinner, forming Parish Vocation Committees, and
through personal and group prayer, Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, and
spiritual presentations at our program meetings.
Meetings:
- 2nd Tuesday at St. Francis Church
for Adoration, 12:15 p.m. for Mass and 1:00 luncheon;
- 4th Thursday at 7:00 p.m. for business
and program meeting, Guadalupe Hall, Chancery Office, 911 SE Armour,
Bend.
Volunteer hours per month are dependent
upon what projects we may be working on. Qualifications: willingness to
commit time to committees working on projects and be practicing and
confirmed Catholics.
